Coloration: Blue-Aqua Duo-Tone shaft / Pearl shimmer base
Firmness: Medium

Quick rundown: lots of bumps and contours that make for an interesting ride. Well-tapered shape makes this toy fairly easy to work with despite dimensions. Plenty of length and girth, which does not have a lot of floppiness due to its structuring. I personally think it’s perfect in medium firmness for its beefy size.

After some time working with larger toys, I was quite excited to see that the Hippocampus in XL size was pretty much exactly what I was looking for (as tacky as that may initially sound). My reasoning is the shape of the tip that makes getting it in pretty easy, and then a slow uptick in girth that is almost unnoticeable until getting much farther down the toy. This thing ended up being a great addition as one of the chunkier toys I have, hosting a combination of a good length and diameter. The XL Hippocampus makes for a really good all-arounder for those that may be looking to go bigger.

One thing I was unsure of initially was what sort of sensations would accompany all the curvature, bumps, and ridges on this toy, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the medium firmness was truly the goldilocks option for me, with this particular toy. Not firm enough to cause discomfort with all the varying forms on the shaft, but not soft enough to where the features are unnoticeable. Its firm-ish squish in medium firmness also made it surprisingly easy to work in. I am also more than happy with how it stands on its own, and I’m certain the size of this beast accounts for much of that.

While I’ve only had the opportunity to use this a handful of times, I would say it is quickly becoming a favorite for how unusually easy it has been to step up to this toy for some vigorous use. I would also highly recommend getting this toy in medium for its seemingly-perfect balance of stability, sensations, and ease-of-entry. Don’t get me wrong here, though, this is a plenty-large toy and will need some time to comfortably move up to, or go for the soft option, of course, for a bit of an easier time. Getting this toy in hard firmness may cause the bumps and bits to be too rigid and make for a rougher ride overall.

My toy also looks pretty sick with the blue-aqua duo-tone shaft and pearl shimmer base I got it colored in; it takes the warm-aquatic theme of the natural colors to more of an icy theme (though the sky-blue pearlescent may be even “cooler” for that icy theme).
